With the widespread success of Mazda's innovative and efficient SKYACTIV® TECHNOLOGIES, the Japanese automaker has decided that it won't wait the standard three year period to give the its models updates and changes.
Instead, the brand has announced a plethora of powertrain, interior and exterior changes and upgrades that will be seen in the new Mazda lineup through 2016. Budd Baer Mazda has the exclusive details on what we can expect in the next few years for some of our favorite models:
- Mazda3: The 2014 model of this best-selling compact has recently arrived in our Washington, PA showroom featuring the full range of the brand's SKYACTIV® TECHNOLOGIES. Drivers have the choice between a 2.0-liter or 2.5-liter four cylinder engine that can be paired with an six-speed automatic or manual transmission. There is the possibility of a diesel engine option and high performance model, but the brand is waiting to see how the U.S. received the diesel-powered Mazda6 first.
- Mazda CX-9: This is the largest SUV offering from the automaker and its 2016 model is slated to arrive in showrooms sometime in 2015. It will feature the full SKYACTIV® TECHNOLOGIES treatment alongside of strong sheet metal that will feature the brand's kodo design language that has been found on recent Mazda redesigns.
- Mazda MX-5 Miata: The distinguishable convertible will received an overhaul or its 2016 model year that is scheduled for production early in 2015. The fifth-generation of the model will feature a longer wheelbase and wide track thanks to a new rear-wheel drive platform. There is also speculation that it could display a coupelike roofline.
