NEW MAZDA CX-30 VS THE COMPETITION

New Mazda CX-30 vs. the Competition: See How It Outshines Its Rivals in Washington, PA

Subcompact SUVs are the go-to choice for drivers who want a vehicle that's easy to navigate in the city while also offering the high seating position and cargo space they crave. The new Mazda CX-30 is a well-rounded crossover with a well-appointed interior and enjoyable driving dynamics. Other small SUVs like the new Hyundai Kona and Nissan Kicks are also easy to maneuver, but they're not as fun to drive or luxurious as the CX-30. At Budd Baer Mazda in Washington, PA, we're pleased to provide the following comparisons to help you choose between these crossovers.

Ride and Handling

Mazda is known for making vehicles that are a blast to drive, and the new Mazda CX-30 is no exception. This subcompact SUV has quick, nicely weighted steering and a taut suspension for crisp handling around curves in St. Clairsville. It also has firm brakes and a comfortable ride quality.

The new Hyundai Kona rides comfortably, but its handling is only adequate - and far from athletic. The new Nissan Kicks has similarly bland handling, without much sportiness or driving verve on twisty roads. If you drive your SUV every day, the Mazda CX-30 delivers more excitement on every trip.

Engine Power

Even with a small vehicle, you'll want plenty of power for passing slower vehicles or safely merging onto highways around Wheeling, WV. The new Mazda CX-30 offers a choice of two engines to get the acceleration or efficiency you prefer. It comes standard with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine producing a respectable 186 horsepower. For quicker get-up-and-go, a turbocharged version of that same engine generates up to 250 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque. With this engine, you'll have all the muscle you need for keeping ahead of traffic.

The Hyundai Kona's standard four-cylinder engine only makes 147 horsepower. An optional turbocharged powertrain delivers 190 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque, which is still much less than the Mazda CX-30's engine upgrade. All Nissan Kicks models are equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 141 horsepower and 140 pound-feet of torque. This powertrain is underpowered, and it gets noisy when you floor it.

All-Wheel Drive

The weather can turn tricky around Morgantown, WV, so you'll want all-wheel drive for powering through mud or snow-covered roads in the winter. The new Mazda CX-30 comes standard with all-wheel drive, providing strong traction during challenging conditions.

The new Hyundai Kona comes with front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is available, but you must pay more to add it. Likewise, the Nissan Kicks comes equipped with front-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive can be added at additional expense.

Interior

You'll spend a lot of time inside your vehicle, so you'll want one with a pleasing, inviting interior. The new Mazda CX-30 provides one of the more high-end cabins in its class. Its high-quality materials are arranged in a simple yet pleasing layout that rivals many luxury vehicles.

The new Hyundai Kona offers plenty of space to relax in, but its materials and design are a bit less luxurious than the CX-30. The new Nissan Kicks is a budget vehicle, so its seats are not all-day comfy and overall quality is lacking compared to the Mazda.

Safety

Your family's safety is one of the most important aspects of any vehicle, and the new Mazda CX-30 has you and your loved ones covered. It comes with six standard driver assistance features, including lane departure warning, which alerts you when the vehicle begins to drift out of its lane on the streets Canonsburg.

The new Hyundai Kona comes with five standard driving aids, and lane departure warning is not included. The new Nissan Kicks only comes with four advanced active safety features, and you must pay more to add lane keeping assistance.
