Why Your Vehicle's Differential Is Important

Many people don't know what your vehicle's differential does, and that is okay. Luckily, we here at Budd Baer Mazda are here to give you the basics so you can become a more informed car owner.

Your car's differential is basically a gearbox that works with the engine and the transmission to take power generated in the engine, and then transmitted by the transmission to the wheel axles and makes the car move forward or backward. While a differential may last much longer, it is recommended to replace your differential fluid roughly every 40,000 miles. Differential fluid ensures that metal does not scrape other metal through the use of proper lubrication. These figures can, of course, be higher or lower for your specific vehicle.
